1. Start with a Clean Vase
It might sound simple, but a clean vase is the first secret to longer-lasting flowers.
Any leftover bacteria or residue from previous arrangements can shorten your flowers’ life.
Wash your vase with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly before filling it with fresh, cool water.
2. Triàm Those Stems
Cut about 2cm from the bottom of each stem at a 45-degree angle before placing them in water.
This opens up more surface area for water absorption and prevents the stems from sitting flat at the bottom of the vase.
If you’ve had your flowers for a few days, give them another quick trim to refresh the ends.
3. Remove Leaves Below the Waterline
Leaves sitting in water start to rot quickly, which encourages bacteria and cloudiness.
Remove any foliage that will be submerged – it’ll help your flowers stay healthy longer.
4. Change the Water Regularly
Every two days, empty the vase, rinse it, and refill with clean, cool water. If you want to go the extra mile, dissolve a tiny pinch of sugar and a drop of bleach – it mimics store-bought flower food.

7. Remove Wilted Blooms Promptly
If one flower starts to fade, remove it from the bunch.
It releases ethylene gas, which can cause neighbouring blooms to deteriorate more quickly.
